coinstar

An alternative to sorting, wrapping, and rolling coins.
The company’s first self-service coin-counting kiosks were installed in 1992 in the San Francisco area. Today, Coinstar is the industry leader operating the only
multi-national, fully automated network of self-service coin-counting kiosks across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
Coinstar® kiosks are found in nearly every community in the United States. About 20,200 convenient locations in all.1 These locations make life
easier for consumers…and drive traffic to our retail partners, producing incremental revenue.
Getting coins back into circulation.
It is estimated that at any given time, there are approximately $10 billion worth of coins sitting idle in U.S. households. Our kiosks process about
50 billion coins a year, amounting to approximately $3 billion. Consumers convert coins to cash by paying a nominal fee or receive no-fee coin counting
when they turn in their coins for gift cards from national retail brands.
